Calvary Chapel Fellowship Wenatchee Valley Childrens' Ministry
Purpose:
The purpose of Calvary Chapel Fellowship Childrens' Ministry is to teach the children about Jesus. At this time we have embarked on an attempt to teach the children verse by verse, depending on their age ability to understand. We focus on what is in the bible and do not include the additions that are so often in childrens' bible stories. We do not have a dogmatic urge to remove these additions but simply feel the Bible is beautiful in its simplicity and needs no additions. Our emphasis is teaching about Jesus. Unfortunately this means we may or may not cover many of the great Old Testament stories. We only have one hour a week with kids, and so we will preach Jesus Christ, and him resurrected!
Classes
Nursery
Our nursery class is what one would expect, kids in diapers tottering around having fun! The children are in the nursery until they are out of diapers. For newborns there is a "cry" room in the balcony area. Parents and teachers can discuss when the child is ready for nursery
Preschool
Preschool is the fun area. The children first attend childrens' worship. They then go to the preschool room where they have a short, age appropriate message, maybe with some related activities. Then it is all fun time! The age of this class ranges from just out of diapers to just going into kindergarten. When they leave this class the kids should have some idea who Jesus is and that He loves them very much!
K-2
This is for children in kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. More structured setting with bible lessons. First they attend childrens' worship, then the childrens' message, and then they go to their class. In class they do activities related to the message. When they leave this class the kids should understand that Jesus is the eternal Savior, and that He sacrificed Himself so they could go to heaven!
3-5
This is for children in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Kids in this age group are the rocket scientists of the Childrens' Ministry, they can learn so much! First they attend childrens' worship, then the childrens 'message, and then they go to their class where they do worksheets and study lessons related to the message. When they leave this class the kids should understand the trinity, and have a basic understanding of justification and sanctification (the basic concept.. not necessarily the definition of those words!).
For all the age groups we try to make the lessons as interesting and fun as possible but our overriding goal is to teach about Jesus and express his love!
